Special Education Needs

Stoke High School is a fully inclusive school.  All students are welcome and over the years  the school has built up extensive knowledge and expertise in working with students with learning, physical, emotional and behavioural and sensory disabilities.

We aim to be as flexible as possible in meeting the individual needs of all our students.  Learning Support staff offer in-class support, withdrawal and mentoring.  LSA support is provided as appropriate and students with specific needs eg sensory difficulties or those on the autistic spectrum have individual programmes designed for them.  Support for Numeracy and Literacy is provided in class and through small group work and a variety of individual programmes such as Corrective Reading and Toe by Toe.

At KS4 there are a number of programmes and courses suitable for students at Foundation Level.

All teachers are considered to be teachers of students withSecial Educational Needs, they are aware of the students on the SEN register and are expected to differentiate appropriately.
